When I’m home I am constantly drawn to photographing the sea and the waves. I love to search for new beaches, hidden coves – far away from the madding crowd.
People travel to Cornwall to enjoy the peace and quiet and I know how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place. It never takes long to lose the crowds. All you ever have to do is find a beach that you have to clamber down the cliffs to get to …. and there you go…. empty beaches.
Whatever the weather, the sea always has a different mood. Rough seas. Spring tides. Inshore waters. Red flag days. Growly stormy days.. The beach and the sea have different moods for different days.
Sunrise and sunset offer different light conditions. The hour before and the hour after give us the so called ‘golden hour’ – the time of day photographers love.
Below you’ll see some of my recent photographs taken at the beaches near my home in West Cornwall. A place I love and a place I find hard to leave!
